One of my dogs, Ripley, ran away from my house on Tuesday, May 10th. She is a black labrador about 1-2 years old, she is spayed (cannot breed). She has what looks like a translucent white film on her right (your left) eye (it looks like it could be a sign of blindness but it is normal to her breed and does not affect her eyesight) and a flea collar. She will respond to "Ripley, come!" when spoken in a friendly tone and is very responsive to food (meat, cheese, bread).
If you see her and call to her, please make sure you kneel and turn your body away from her while keeping an eye on her, this will further incline her to come towards you (if you also happen to have a tennis ball handy it will definitely help, she has a fixation on tennis balls). She was originally a rescue dog from a shelter in Boston, my sister got her but could not take care of her and gave her to my parents who didnt pay that much attention to her. Needless to say, she can be very shy of people, but she is not an aggressive dog. If she begins to growl if you approach, simply take a step back and do not look her dead in the eye but do not walk away. She has been given vaccines for rabies.
She also suffers from hip displaysia so I'm worried that she might get hurt or may already be hurt and she has an ear infection that I have to give her medicine daily for.
Please, if you have any way of helping me to find her and get her back home safely it would be greatly appreciated.
